Evolution[edit]

In the manga[edit]

Waratah being smug

In the first chapter of the Telefang 1 manga, a Waratah living in Tronco Village befriends Matsukiyo and becomes his partner Denjuu. While he speaks only in monkey-chatter and acts more as a team mascot than anything else, he can still hold his own in a battle.

In chapter 2, he called on a large group of his brethren to trample a Potzal.

The story shifts focus away from Matsukiyo and Waratah after chapter 8. Waratah is presumed to have evolved off-panel into a Whitah sometime between the events of chapter 9-13, and is shown as such on the back of the slipcover for volume 2 of the manga (containing chapters 7-12.) When they later return in chapter 14, he is shown to have further evolved into an Enteioh.

Trivia[edit]

Telefang 2 backsprite

Waratah does not have a heart on its rear anymore in its reappearance in Telefang 2. Artist Saiko Takaki explained the inconsistency as stemming from the fact that she only drew front images of each Denjuu for Telefang 1, so the heart detail was perhaps added by a writer later. [1]
